This endearing moment was a joy to capture in paint. The toddler’s skin needed to be soft in tone and feel, als well as the little hands. De concentrated look in both the children tells the story in front of them. 

This painting was made in a different set up than usual. Instead of a global sketch I worked from the heads further out. This gives an interesting insight in the ‘build’ of the painting but also has it’s limits since the color of the subject interacts with the background and vice versa. This means the colors can look different when painting in the background.
